Significance

Symmetrical 5′,5′-dinucleoside mono-, di-, tri- and tetraphosphodiesters 10-13 were prepared on solid supports starting from aminomethyl polystyrene resin-bound p-acetoxybenzyl alcohol 1. Thymidine, adenosine, AZT, cytidine and inosine were used without their protections to give the corresponding products in 59-78% overall yield.
