There have been reported two kinds of eleuthoside A. One is isolated by Kashman Y. et al. and the other is (3R)-4-(β-d-glucopyranosyloxy)-5-methoxy-3-methyl-naphtho[2,3-c]furan-1(3H)-one, isolated by Shibuya H. et al.2 In this paper, synthetic study of latter eleuthoside A and related compounds are described.
