Die häufigsten Indikationen für spinale Fusionsoperationen sind symptomatische Spondylolisthesen, schmerzhafte degenerative Bandscheibenpathologien, stark ausgeprägte Skoliosen und instabile Frakturen. Die Basis in der postoperativen Physiotherapie sollte laut Christoph Thalhamer das Training des Positions- und Bewegungssinns der LWS sein.
