In Dänemark ist es mit der GLA:D-Initiative gelungen, wissenschaftlich belegte Empfehlungen für die Physiotherapie bei Arthrose erfolgreich in die Praxis zu integrieren. Nach einem ausführlichen Befund erhält jeder Patient drei Edukationseinheiten und zweimal wöchentlich ein Gruppentraining über mindestens sechs Wochen. Im Juli 2019 hat auch die Schweiz GLA:D eingeführt.
