Herausforderung Gender und Essstörungen: Essstörung ist nicht (nur) weiblich

Essstörungen werden nach wie vor als typische Frauenerkrankungen gesehen. Diese Einengung verursacht ein Nichtwahrnehmen von männlichen Betroffenen. Inzwischen beschreiben die wissenschaftlichen Daten jedoch klar, dass Männer nicht marginal betroffen sind, sondern dass es auch ähnliche und sogar männerspezifische Charakteristika gibt. Auf der Behandlungsebene sind somit klare Fragestellungen und Empathie wesentliche Handwerkzeuge.
