Almost back to normal life again

Dear readers, authors, and friends of Endoscopy,

On behalf of the editorial team of Endoscopy, I wish you all a very happy 2023!

The past year has seen the world return to a somewhat “normal” life (albeit with some ongoing changes) since the start of the pandemic. It has been wonderful to be able to reconnect in person with colleagues from around the world again. I would like to thank you all for your immense contribution to the journal Endoscopy last year and the year to come.

Once again, the Impact Factor has been breaking records with a historical 10.437 which reflects the high quality of submissions, the professionality and excellence of the editorial team as well as the appreciation of the readers and authors.

Our introduction of the Infographics in 2022 has proved successful and we believe that as they evolve the Endoscopy Infographics will be instantly recognizable.

In 2022, we introduced a junior co-editors board comprising Nastazja Dagny Pilonis, Xinyang Liu, Marco Spadaccini and Andrei Voiosu who were mentored by co-editors Nicholas Burgess, Philip Chiu, Klaus Mönkemüller and Marcin Polkowski. Another 4 junior co-editors will be appointed this coming year.

Endoscopy is doing exceptionally well on social media channels and one of the tasks of the juniors is promoting Endoscopy on these channels.

I would like to thank Evelien Dekker and Sachin Wani who left their positions as co-editors in early 2022 and Klaus Mönkemüller who left more recently at the end of December. I am especially thankful to Klaus Mönkemüller who was a co-editor for many years and incessantly inspired us with his enthusiasm for endoscopy! I would also like to welcome Manon Spaander and Lorenzo Fuccio who joined the co-editors team this year and Marianna Arvanitakis who will join us as of 2023.

Last but not least, the next Endoscopy editorial board meeting is planned as a presential meeting at ESGE Days 2023 from April 20-22 in Dublin, Ireland. It will be an immense pleasure to convene with the editorial board on this occasion, as well as connect with all our readers and authors during the congress.

Once again, I hope that 2023 will be a fantastic and successful year for you. May all your goals be achieved, and all your plans be fulfilled. Have a blessed year ahead!
