Isomerization of Allyl Ethers with [Ru3]@SiEGcap

Significance

Ruthenium-encapsulating poly­siloxane gel ([Ru3]@SiEGcap) was prepared by the treatment of polymethylhydrosiloxane (PMHS) with ethylene glycol in the presence of ruthenium complex 1, followed by capping with MeOCH2CH2OH. [Ru3]@SiEGcap catalyzed the isomerization of various allyl ethers to afford the corresponding vinyl ethers (9 examples, up to >95% yield). [Ru3]@SiEGcap was recovered by ­filtration and reused three times without loss of catalytic activity (the yield in each recycle experiment was over 95%).
