Significance

Functionalized organozinc halides can be reacted with aromatic electron-rich aldehydes in the presence of a silylating agent and catalytic amounts of Ni(acac)2. The resulting dialkylation products are obtained in good to excellent yields. The reaction proceeds under mild conditions.
