Oxa- and Azacycles via a Novel Iron-Catalyzed Prins Cyclization

Significance

Catalytic iron(III) and TMS halides allow the formation of carbon-carbon, hetero­atom-carbon and halogen-carbon bonds in a same reaction. This new Prins cyclization leads to oxa- and azacycles in very good yields, regiochemistry and good syn/anti selectivities in the case of saturated heterocycles.
