Pd/HP20-Catalyzed Hydrogenation and Suzuki-Miyaura Coupling

Significance

Palladium on DIAION® HP20 (Pd/HP20) was prepared by mixing Pd(OAc)2 and ­DIAION® HP20 in MeOH at room temperature ­under argon atmosphere for four days (eq. 1). Pd/HP20 catalyzes the hydrogenolysis of N-benzyl-oxycarbonyl and benzyl groups, the hydro-genation of alkyne and nitro groups, etc. (eq. 2). Pd/HP20 was also applied to the Suzuki-Miyaura coupling of aryl bromides and arylboronic acids to give the corresponding biaryl compounds (eq. 3).
