Abstract

Enzyme patterns of the energy-linked metabolism in erythrocytes, leucocytes and blood platelets were studied in insulin-dependent human diabetics.

In erythrocytes an increase of the activity of G6PDH, 6PGDH, FDPase and ALD, of GAPDH, PGK, EN, LDH, MDH, T-IDH, ME, GOT, GPT was observed; in leucocytes increase of activity of G6PDH, FDPase, TIM, PGK, GAPDH, LDH and T-IDH and decrease of GPT is reported; in blood platelets GDH and MDH were significantly decreased.

There was no correlation between changes of enzyme activities and the quality of diabetes therapy; moreover, diabetics with good control were shown to have higher activities.
