Abstract

The adrenal gland of rats shows an active metabolism of glycerol, which is sensitive to ACTH. After single and repeated (3 or 10 days) injection of ACTH, the activity of adrenal glycerokinase was markedly stimulated. The incorporation of glycerol into total adrenal lipids after injection of ACTH for ten days was significantly higher than that in controls. The metabolism of glycerol in the adrenal gland could be related to adrenal function, particularly in stimulated adrenals.
