Abstract

The present work has led to the isolation, from the seeds of Strychnos potatorum collected in Dehradun (India) of β-sitosterol, oleanolic acid, 3β-acetoxy oleanolic acid, a saponin glycoside, having oleanolic acid as aglycone and D–galactose and n-mannose as sugar moieties. B–galactose and n-mannose were isolated as free sugars also.
