Abstract

A study of the fixed oil of the seeds of Citrullus colocynthis was carried out. The physical characters of this oil as well as its acid, saponification and iodine values were determined. Qualitative study of the fatty acid moiety, in the form of their methyl esters, using GLC was carried out. Moreover, the investigation of the unsaponifiable moiety of the oil, using TLC, column chromatography as well as TLC investigation of the acetylated sterol fraction is presented.
