Summary

Four alkaloids have been isolated from the leaves of Mitragyna parvifolia. They are rotundifoline, isorotundifoline, rhynchophylline and isorhynchophylline. The suggestion is made that as it is possible to confuse the plants M. parvifolia and M. rotundifolia (M. diversifolia) previous workers who isolated rotundifoline and isorotundifoline from M. rotundifolia might have been examining the leaves of M. parvifolia in error, since the investigation reported in Part I shows these alkaloids to be absent from M. rotundifolia, while thosfe reported present in M. parvifolia correspond to those previously reported in M. rotundifolia.

Zusammenfassung

Aus den Blättern von Mitragyna parvifolia wurden die Alkaloide Rotundifolin, Isorotundifolin, Rhynchophyllin und Isorhynchophyllin isoliert. Es wird darauf hingewiesen, daß frühere Autoren, die Rotundifolin und Isorotundifolin aus M. rotundifolia isoliert hatten, wo es nach unseren Befunden nicht vorkommt, wahrscheinlich irrtümlicherweise M. parvifolia untersucht haben.
