Introduction

Neuroblastomas arise from primitive neural crest cells that differentiate to form the sympathetic nervous system. Fetal neuroblastoma is usually diagnosed by ultrasound in the second or third trimester. It typically develops in the adrenal gland (90 %), presenting as an isolated mass, however, distant metastases may also be found (Acharya S et al. Prenatally diagnosed neuroblastoma. Cancer 1997; 80: 304 – 310). Neuroblastoma may also occur in the posterior mediastinum or anywhere along the sympathetic neural chain.
