Significance

A combination of two different orthogonal non-covalent interactions for the synthesis of self-assembled dendrimers is presented. Complexation to ruthenium of ligands containing 2,2′-bipyridine and Hamilton-type receptors yields well-defined assemblies in the presence of metal centers and cyanuric-type derivatives.
