Significance

Addition of aldehydes across a variety of unsaturated substrates to yield ketones can be a valuable method for constructing complex synthons (see Review below). The authors ­report on a hydroacylation of methylenecyclopropanes (MCPs) to give γ,δ-unsaturated ketones. The method is general and affords products in ­excellent diastereoselectivity and good yields.
