Summary

The examination of the horse for dental treatment includes the preliminary report, the documentation, inspection and palpation of the head externally, the exact control of the oral cavity, of the tongue, the cheek teeth and the incisors. Sufficient sedation, the right devices and some tools are indispensable for a good examination. Some symptoms or abnormalities are characteristic for certain problems. A systematical approach helps to detect all findings.
