Significance

Cyanolide A is a C 2-symmetrical macrolide isolated from the cyanobacteria Lyng­bya bouillonii. Previous syntheses have employed lactonization protocols to furnish the macrocyclic ring. The dimerization strategy employed here ­facilitates a concise synthesis requiring only ten steps.
