Zusammenfassung

MR-kompatible Schrittmacher- und Defibrillatorsysteme sind angesichts der Implantationszahlen und wachsenden Zahl an MR-Indikationen eine logische und sinnvolle Weiterentwicklung zur (1) Verbesserung der Sicherheit und (2) Verbesserung der Diagnostik unserer Device-Patienten und werden daher ein Standard in der Versorgung werden. Noch viele Jahre werden wir allerdings mit dem Problem von MR-Untersuchungen bei Patienten mit älteren Elektroden und nicht MR-kompatiblen Systemen konfrontiert sein, was vor dem Hintergrund der durchgeführten Studien und berichteten Fallzahlen unter Berücksichtigung spezifischer Vorkehrungen weniger gefährlich sein dürfte als früher angenommen.

Abstract

The increasing amount of pacemaker and ICD implantations on the one hand and the increasing number of indications for MR-imaging on the other hand forced the development of MR-compatible ICDs and pacemakers. Without doubt, these devices will improve the safety and the diagnostic accuracy for our device patients. Thus, they will become the device of first choice for most of the device patients. Meanwhile we are faced with devices and leads, that are not MR compatible. However, studies on patients with pacemakers that are not MR compatible showed adequate safety and feasibility under specific conditions concerning surveillance, programming of the device and MR setting.
