Zusammenfassung

Hintergrund: Die Inanspruchnahme psychiatrischer oder psychologischer Leistungen steigt stetig in der westlichen Welt. Eine im Jahr 2008 publizierte systematische Übersicht kam jedoch zu der Schlussfolgerung, dass es keine hinreichenden empirischen Belege für die Zunahme psychischer Störungen in den letzten Jahrzehnten gegeben hat.

Methode: Es wurde eine systematische Literaturübersicht wiederholter Querschnittsstudien seit 2008 über psychische Probleme und Störungen in der Allgemeinbevölkerung durchgeführt.

Ergebnisse: 33 Studienresultate wurden in die Übersicht eingeschlossen. Die Mehrheit der Publikationen berichtet keine Zunahme psychischer Probleme oder Störungen.

Schlussfolgerungen: Die Steigerung der Inanspruchnahme von psychiatrischen Gesundheitsleistungen ist nicht mit einer Zunahme psychischer Probleme oder Störungen in der Bevölkerung assoziiert.

Abstract

Background: Throughout the western world, an increasing demand for psychiatric services is reported. However, a systematic review published in 2008 came to the conclusion that there is no sufficient evidence for increasing mental disorders in the recent decades.

Methods: A systematic review on studies with repeating cross-sectional surveys in the general population, published since 2008, was conducted.

Results: 33 study results were included into the review. The majority of publications did not report increasing mental health problems in the general population.

Conclusion: The increasing demand for psychiatric services is not associated with increasing mental disorders in the general population.
