Zusammenfassung

Wir berichten über 2 Patienten mit solide imponierenden rektalen Tumoren bei denen sich histologisch lediglich eine floride regenerative Proktitis zeigte. Bei beiden Patienten war eine sexuell übertragbare Infektion (STI) die Ursache der Beschwerden. In seltenen Fällen können STI somit auch als Pseudotumor mit klinisch und endoskopisch/radiologisch hochgradigem Verdacht auf Malignität imponieren. Eine enge Zusammenarbeit zwischen Gastroenterologe und Pathologe unter Berücksichtigung infektiöser Erkrankungen ist zur Diagnosestellung unbedingt erforderlich, auch um unnötige, belastende Operationen zu verhindern.

Abstract

Two cases of symptomatic proctitis with rectal tumors suspicious for malignancy are presented. A florid regenerative proctitis was shown in the histological examination. In both cases a sexually transmitted infection (STI) was causing the symptoms. In rare cases STIs present as pseudo tumors mimicking malignancy in clinical examination and endoscopic/radiological analysis. A close collaboration between gastroenterologist and pathologist is necessary for a correct diagnosis and to prevent unnecessary surgical treatment.
