Zusammenfassung

Adipositas gilt als eines der größten Gesundheitsprobleme unserer Zeit. Aktuelle Behandlungserfolge sind als gering einzustufen, gerade in Bezug auf eine langfristige Gewichtsstabilisierung. Neue Behandlungskonzepte sind hier dringend erforderlich. Achtsamkeit beschreibt die absichtsvolle Aufmerksamkeitslenkung auf die Erfahrungen des gegenwärtigen Moments, ohne über diese zu urteilen. Der vorliegende Artikel soll aufzeigen, wie der gezielte Einsatz von Achtsamkeit Menschen mit Adipositas dabei unterstützen kann, zur Gewichtsstabilisierung notwendige Verhaltensänderungen v.a. in Bezug auf ihre Ernährungsgewohnheiten zu etablieren. Ausgehend von zentralen therapeutischen Ansatzpunkten (gestörtes Essverhalten, Selbstregulation, Emotionsregulation, interozeptive Wahrnehmung) wird auf der Grundlage theoretischer Überlegungen und aktueller Studienergebnisse verdeutlicht, wie Achtsamkeit das Behandlungsrepertoire für Adipositas sinnvoll ergänzen kann.

Summary

Obesity represents one of the greatest health challenges of our time. Treatment outcomes are often poor, especially with regard to the long-term maintenance of weight loss. New approaches in treatment are therefore needed. Mindfulness entails the deliberately paying attention to the experiences of the present moment without judging. The present article describes how mindfulness may be a helpful component in aiding obese individuals to successfully change behaviors that are relevant to stabilizing weight loss, particularly with regard to their eating patterns. Focusing on central therapeutic aspects (such as eating patterns, self-regulation, emotion regulation and interoception), theoretical approaches and empirical findings will be used to demonstrate how mindfulness may be a fruitful component in the treatment of obesity.
