Geoffrey G. Hallock, MD, and Marco Pignatti, MD

I want to thank Dr. Geoffrey Hallock and Dr. Marco Pignatti for serving as guest editors and the exceptional group of knowledgeable and experienced authors that they have brought together to write on “Propeller Flaps” for Seminars in Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Hallock is a board-certified plastic surgeon who is well known nationally and internationally for his reconstructive work. He received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia and trained in general surgery at Dartmouth. Dr. Hallock completed his plastic surgery residency at the University of North Carolina and went on to complete a cosmetic surgery fellowship in Miami.

Currently, he works in Allentown, PA and specializes in plastic surgery and hand surgery. Dr. Hallock is affiliated with Lehigh Valley Hospital, Sacred Heart Hospital, and St. Luke's Hospital. Dr. Hallock is an active member of numerous plastic surgery societies and is a prolific writer on many different plastic surgery topics, having authored more than 400 journal articles and 75 book chapters. We are honored to have him as our guest editor.

Dr. Marco Pignatti is an assistant professor in plastic surgery at the University of Bologna, Italy. He graduated cum laude at the University of Verona where he also did his residency in plastic reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. In 2005, he was honored as the recipient of the EURAPS “Young Plastic Surgeon” fellowship. Dr. Pignatti went on to specialize for 2 years in the United Kingdom: in 2008 as Clinical Fellow in Microsurgery, Breast, and Hand at the St. Andrews Centre for Plastic Surgery and Burns at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford, and in 2009 as Microsurgery Fellow at Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead. In 2009 he was nominated as an EBOPRAS fellow.

Dr. Pignatti is a member of the Italian Society of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery (SICPRE) and of the Italian Society of Microsurgery (SIM). He is also the author of numerous scientific publications and book chapters. Dr. Pignatti's main interests are microsurgery, breast surgery, autologous fat grafting and, of course, perforator and propeller flap surgery.
