A new method to activate thioglycosides is described. The combined use of PhSeNPhth and TMSOTf was demonstrated to be a powerful promoter of thioglycoside. The reaction proceeds rapidly even at low temperature to give O-glycoside in a high yield. The effects of solvents and reaction temperature were also investigated.
