Introduction

Acute liver failure in patients with an underlying cirrhosis continues to have a high mortality rate. Liver transplantation in these patients cannot be performed as a high urgent procedure. Nevertheless the indication for transplantation may be given. The benefit of bridging procedures needs to be evaluated in these patients.
