Zusammenfassung

Flavonoide sind natürliche Polyphenole mit einer Struktur aus einem aromatischem Pyran-Ring und einer Phenylseitenkette, die in zytoprotektiven Nahrungsstoffen wie Gemüse, Obst, Tee und Beeren vorkommen. Sie sind wahrscheinlich wesentlich beim Aufbau einer antioxidativen Barriere im gastrointestinalen Trakt beteiligt. Flavone, Flavonole und Catechine wirken antioxidativ, antiproliferativ und antikarzinogen und könnten bei Supplementierung mit der Nahrung eine wesentliche Schutzfunktion im Sinne einer biologischen Prävention von Darmneoplasien ausüben.

Abstract

Flavonoids contain one aromatic pyran ring structure and a phenylic side chain with several hydroxyl groups in different positions and numbers.These natural compounds are widely distributed in our food especially in vegetables, fruits, teas and berries. Flavonoids could be responsible for the formation of an antitoxic barrier within the gastrointestinal mucosa. Flavons, flavonols and catechins posses antioxidative, antiproliferative and anticarcinogenic properties. As nutritional supplements they could play a major protective role in the primary and secondary prevention of intestinal neoplasias.
