Bone Morphogenic Proteins: Their Role in Fracture Management

Abstract

Delayed fracture healing and non-union remain problems in fracture management. Over the last two decades improvement with fixation has assisted with the management of these problems. Bone morphogenic proteins represent a novel approach to biologically stimulate fractures to accelerate bone healing. This article overviews some of the experimental and clinical studies to support the use of this technique.
