Significance

Many dibenzocyclooctadiene lignans have been isolated from the Schisandraceae family of plants and several of these show interesting biological activities. Interiotherin A, isolated from the vine Kadsura interior, inhibits the replication of HIV. Angeloylgomisin R is a closely related analogue of Interiotherin A.
