Zusammenfassung

In der Zahnheilkunde ist die Bedeutung der Ästhetik deutlich gestiegen. Früher wurden ästhetische Belange gegenüber funktionellen, strukturellen und biologischen Anforderungen eher vernachlässigt. Eine Behandlung, die nicht mit klaren Vorstellungen über die ästhetischen Auswirkungen der geplanten Maßnahmen auf den Patienten beginnt, kann leicht in einem Desaster enden. Die heutige interdisziplinär orientierte Zahnheilkunde erfordert eine Behandlungsplanung, die von klar definierten ästhetischen Zielsetzungen ausgeht. Man beginnt mit ästhetischen Fragen und bezieht dann nacheinander funktionelle, strukturelle und biologische Belange ein. Auf diese Weise können die unterschiedlichen zahnmedizinischen Disziplinen auf sinnvolle Art und Weise Hand-in-Hand arbeiten und jeden Patienten bestmöglichst versorgen. Und das funktioniert tatsächlich. Wir bezeichnen dies als interdisziplinäre Zahnheilkunde. Der vorliegende Beitrag hat zum Ziel, dem Leser eine systematische Methode vorzustellen, mit deren Hilfe Patienten, die einer interdisziplinären Behandlung bedürfen, beurteilt werden und angemessene Behandlungsplanungen entworfen werden können.

Abstract

Esthetics has become a respectable term in dentistry. In the past, the importance of esthetics was discounted in favor of terms such as function, structure, and biology. But in fact if a treatment plan does not begin with a clear view of its esthetic impact on the patient, then the outcome could be disastrous. In today's interdisciplinary dental world, treatment planning must begin with well-defined esthetic objectives. By beginning with esthetics, and taking into consideration the impact on function, structure, and biology, the clinician will be able to utilize the various disciplines in dentistry to deliver the highest level of dental care to each patient. It really works. We call this interdisciplinary dentistry. The purpose of this article is to provide the reader with a systematic method of evaluating and planning treatment for the multidisciplinary dental patient in a logical, interdisciplinary manner.
