Suzuki-Miyaura Reactions Using a Polymer-Supported DABCO-Pd Complex

Significance

Polymer-supported DABCO-palladium complex 4 was synthesized and found to promote the Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction. Thus, the reaction of Merrifield resin 1 with DABCO 2 in acetone for 24 h gave the polymer-supported DABCO 3. After treatment of 3 with Pd(OAc)2, the resulting resin was filtered and rinsed with diethyl ether and MeOH to afford the polymer-supported DABCO-palladium complex 4. The Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reactions of bromo- and chloroarenes with aryl boronic acids were carried out in the presence of complex 4 to give the corresponding biaryl products in high yield (17 examples, 85-96% yield).
