Efficient Cross-Coupling Reactions with Arylindium Reagents

Significance

Triarylindium reagents were efficiently synthesized via directed deprotonation and subsequent transmetallation. They were successfully subjected to Pd-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions with aryl- and heteroarylhalides/-triflates and a vinyltriflate. All three aryl groups attached to the indium were efficiently transferred providing the desired products in high yields. In the case of heteroaryl-heteroaryl coupling reactions, triorganoindium compounds were shown to even exceed the yields of their boronic ester or stannane counterparts.
