Significance

This Cu(I)-catalyzed carbozincation of alkynyl sulfoximines and sulfones is a novel straightforward method for obtaining stereodefined α , β ,β′-trisubstituted vinyl sulfoximines and sulfones. A variety of organozinc reagents can be applied all of which undergo a regioselective syn addition to the alkyne by placing the carbo moiety at the β- and the zinc at the α -position. This sp2-organometallic reagent can then react with electrophiles.
