Significance

The enantioselective formation of carbon-carbon bonds is one of the most important reactions in organic synthesis. The palladium-mediated allylic alkylation is a well-understood example for this reaction and a large number of chiral ligands have been developed. The authors report the first example of diphosphoamidite ligands attached to a readily available carbo­hydrate backbone which leads to a highly modular ligand class for allylic alkylations (previous work: Adv. Synth. Catal. 2005, 347, 1257-1266.)
