Significance

Phomopsin B is a potent micro­tubule-destabilizing agent, isolated from the fungus Phomopsis leptostromiformis. In the present synthesis fully functionalized building blocks are combined by peptide coupling reactions followed by a late-stage macrocyclization. Phomopsin B was obtained after 26 steps.
