Entzündlich-rheumatische Erkrankungen betreffen gehäuft das weibliche Geschlecht, und nicht selten erkranken Frauen vor Abschluss ihrer Familienplanung. Die Konsequenz ist, dass diese Patientinnen oft weniger Kinder als Frauen der Normalbevölkerung bekommen. Gründe dafür sind teils persönliche Entscheidungen angesichts der Sorge um die eigene Gesundheit bzw. die des Kindes [1]. So kann eine Schwangerschaft Auswirkungen auf den Verlauf der rheumatischen Erkrankung und die Prognose nehmen – andererseits sind erhöhte Raten an Schwangerschaftsverlusten und -komplikationen bekannt. Ein sensibles Thema ist auch die medikamentöse Therapie, die vielfach benötigt wird, um die Erkrankung in Remission zu halten. Im Hinblick auf mögliche fetale Risiken ist sie aber anzupassen.
