Abstract

The author presents his personal experiences of this drug based on extensive case material, and points out that the existing pathogenesis shows serious defects. In agreement with Kent, he discusses the possibility of prescribing a drug integrating two pathogeneses, an example being Calcarea arsenicosa, which combines features of Calcarea carbonica and Arsenicum, with brief reference to a number of case histories.

It is concluded that the essence of Calcarea sulphurica is a Sulphur subject who also shows the characteristic fears of Calcarea carbonica. On the basis of his experience, the author delineates a characteristic psychosomatic personality for this drug which in his opinion becomes a real polychrest, as it is frequently indicated and rapidly effective.

A paper read at the 41st Congress of LHMI, Rio de Janeiro, September 1986. Translated from the Spanish by F. Jelley.
