ABSTRACT

Especially concerning the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) an obstructive sleep apnoa syndrome (OSAS) is becomming more and more important for the flight surgeons in duty. But also the Pilots, Air Traffic Controllers (ATC) and the Cabin Crew (CC) have to be examinated in a correct way, so that an OSAS can be excluded during their profession. In this article the most common form of sleeping disorders will be presented. The possibilities we have in diagnostics and therapy will be shown. At the end we will discus the aeromedical meaning of the OSAS.
