Eine Appendizitis (Blinddarmentzündung) während der Schwangerschaft stellt sowohl für die Patientin als auch für Ärzte und Hebammen eine besondere Situation dar. Je nach Krankheitsbild ist zunächst ein konservatives Vorgehen möglich, häufig ist jedoch eine Operation und die Appendektomie indiziert. Im interdisziplinären Management der Appendizitis in der Schwangerschaft ist die Hebamme oftmals eine der wichtigsten Ansprechpartnerinnen der Schwangeren. Daher ist es sinnvoll, mit den konservativen und operativen Therapieoptionen auch aus Hebammensicht vertraut zu sein.
