Akutes Koronarsyndrom: Verbessert Depressionsbehandlung die Prognose langfristig?

Patienten mit akutem Koronarsyndrom (ACS) leiden nicht selten zusätzlich an einer Depression. Die Frage, ob eine medikamentöse Behandlung der Depression auf lange Sicht neben dem Affekt auch das kardiovaskuläre Outcome verbessert, wird kontrovers diskutiert. In einer kürzlich im JAMA publizierten Langzeitanalyse einer Therapiestudie mit Escitalopram zeigte sich nun ein signifikanter Vorteil der antidepressiven (Kurzzeit-) Therapie: Noch mehr als acht Jahre später waren die „Major Adverse Cardiovascular Events“ (MACE) der Patienten reduziert.
