Bei der Crohn-Erkrankung (Morbus Crohn) handelt es sich um eine chronische gastrointestinale granulomatöse Entzündung. Sie wurde erstmals im Jahr 1932 von B. B. Crohn u. Mitarb. unter dem Titel „Regional ileitis: a pathologic and chronic entity“ [1] beschrieben. Diese segmentäre transmurale Entzündung sämtlicher Schichten der Darmwand befällt hauptsächlich das Ileum, kann aber auch den gesamten Verdauungstrakt von der Mundhöhle bis zum Anus befallen [2]. Daneben können auch Haut, Augen und Gelenke betroffen sein [3].
