Nach dem Klassiker von Beauchamp/Childress „Principles of Biomedical Ethics“ [1] basiert die ärztliche Ethik auf vier Prinzipien: Benefizenz, Non-Malefizenz, Achtung der Patientenautonomie und Gerechtigkeit. Die ersten beiden Prinzipien, Gutes zu tun und im Interesse des Patienten zu handeln und dem Patienten nicht zu schaden, sind letztlich nichts anderes als das aus dem „Hippokratischen Eid“ wohlbekannte „Nisi nil nocere“, das sich auch in der Deklaration von Genf des Weltärztebundes und der (Muster-)Berufsordnung für die in Deutschland tätigen Ärztinnen und Ärzte wiederfindet [2].
