Zusammenfassung

Prof. Dr. Günter Stüttgen wurde am 23. 1. 1919 in Düsseldorf geboren. Die medizinische Ausbildung erfolgte an den Universitäten Freiburg, Marburg und Düsseldorf. Er promovierte über die „Cholinesterase im Blutserum“ mit Publikation 1942. Nach seiner kumulativen Habilitation 1951 wurde er 1957 außerordentlicher Professor. Nach Aufenthalten in leitenden Positionen an den Hautkliniken in Aachen, Frankfurt und Köln und erfolgreicher weiterer wissenschaftlicher Karriere in Düsseldorf erhielt er 1968 den Ruf auf den Lehrstuhl für Dermato-Venereologie an der Freien Universität Berlin im Rudolf-Virchow-Krankenhaus. Forschungsschwerpunkte waren Physiologie, Biochemie und Pharmakologie der Haut. Nach seiner Emeritierung 1988 initierte er mit C. E. Orfanos zusammen erfolgreich die Gründung der Berliner Stiftung für Dermatologie. Er verstarb am 21. Oktober 2003.

Abstract

Professor Günter Stüttgen (MD, PhD) was born 23rd of January 2019 in Düsseldorf/Germany. He received his undergraduate training in medicine at the universities of Freiburg, Marburg and Düsseldorf. His doctor thesis was dedicated to the topic “Cholinesterase in blood serum” and published 1942. After his PhD in 1951 he became an Associate Professor and was in leading positions as staff member at the departments of dermatology in Aachen, Frankfurt and Cologne. After successful scientific carrier in Düsseldorf he got the position of Chairman & Director of the Department Dermato-Venereology at the Free University Berlin (Rudolf-Virchow University Hospital). Most dedicated scientific fields were physiology, biochemistry and pharmacology of the skin. In 1988 he became an Emeritus and initiated together with C. E. Orfanos successfully the “Berlin Foundation of Dermatology”. He died on October 21st 2003.
