Richtungswechsel sind für viele Ballsportarten unverzichtbar. Sie stellen aber auch ein hohes Risiko für Verletzungen dar. Dennoch werden sie im Training oft nicht hinreichend geübt, weil die Wirksamkeit entsprechender Maßnahmen oft unterschätzt wird.
