Abstract

Spinal metastases highly contribute to tumour-associated morbidity and mortality. An interdisciplinary network of surgical, radiotherapeutic and oncological specialists is needed to elaborate an individual therapy concept. It is of particular importance that therapy options are seen in the overall context of the underlying disease. In addition to surgery and radiotherapy, molecular therapeutic approaches are playing an increasingly important role in the oncological therapy management. Molecular genetics and resulting new therapeutic therapy concepts are the subject of current clinical trials and enter everyday clinical practice through interdisciplinary molecular tumour boards, molecularly stratified therapy decisions and new targeted medications.
