Zusammenfassung

Die operative Behandlung intramedullärer Tumoren zählt zu den anspruchsvollsten Aufgaben in der Neurochirurgie. In diesem Artikel wird die mikrochirurgische Technik zur Entfernung der häufigsten histologischen Typen dargestellt. Dank der technischen Entwicklungen bei der Diagnostik mittels Kernspintomographie, dem intraoperativen Monitoring der Rückenmarkfunktionen und den mikrochirurgischen Verfahren kann ein Großteil der meist gutartigen Tumoren funktionserhaltend entfernt werden, sofern der Eingriff vor der Entwicklung gravierender neurologischer Störungen vorgenommen wird.

Abstract

The surgical treatment of intramedullary tumors is a challenging task for a neurosurgeon. In this paper, the microsurgical technique for the removal of the commonest histological types is presented. Due to technical advancements in diagnosis with magnetic resonance imaging, intraoperative monitoring of neurological functions and microsurgery the majority of these mostly benign tumors can be removed completely with preservation of function provided surgery is undertaken before severe neurological deficits have appeared.
