Zusammenfassung

Tilia tomentosa, Silberlinde, wird traditionell in Ländern wie der Türkei und Lateinamerika bei Nervosität und Angststörungen angewendet. Im Europäischen Arzneibuch ist Tilia tomentosa nicht monografiert. Allerdings gibt es in Deutschland seit einigen Jahren Extrakte aus den frischen Knospen der Silberlinde. Da es bisher nur wenige Hinweise auf potenzielle Wirkmechanismen gab, wurden die Effekte auf den GABA-Rezeptor untersucht. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass der eingesetzte Knospenextrakt an der GABA-Bindungsstelle des GABAA-Rezeptors bindet, jedoch nicht an der Benzodiazepin-Bindungsstelle. Die Ergebnisse können als ein erster kleiner Ansatz betrachtet werden, um die traditionelle Verwendung als plausibel zu betrachten.

Abstract

Tilia tomentosa Moench (silver lime) is traditionally used in regions such as Latin America and Turkey for treating nervousness and anxiety. Tilia tomentosa is not monographed in the European Pharmacopoeia. However, extracts prepared from fresh buds of silver lime have been available in Germany for several years. Hitherto, there has been little evidence of potential mechanisms of action for the preparation. This study therefore investigates the effects of extracts prepared from fresh buds of silver lime on the GABA receptor. The results show that the extract used binds to the GABA-site of the GABAA receptor but not to the benzodiazepine-site. These results could be seen as the first modest approach of considering Tilia tomentosa bud-extracts a source of plausible traditional herbal medicine.
