Persönlichkeitspsychologische Merkmale, bei denen Menschen immer neue, komplexe und intensive Eindrücke suchen und dabei teils physische, soziale und finanzielle Risiken in Kauf nehmen, bezeichnen Psychologen als Sensation Seeking. Was in ausgeprägter Form zu einem gefährlichen Lebensstil wird, kann sich auch durchaus positiv auf die Gesundheit auswirken – weniger Stress, mehr sportliche Aktivitäten und eine schnellere Rückkehr zur Arbeit nach einer Verletzung.
