The spectrum of neuromuscular disorders in HIV-infected patients is wide and mainly caused by HIV itself, viral-induced inflammation as well as antiretroviral drugs, or a combination of all. Of the peripheral nerve disorders, HIV- associated distal symmetric polyneuropathy (HIV-DSP) dominates by far. The purpose of this chapter is to give a short overview of HIV related peripheral manifestations and provide a general approach to diagnosis and management of HIV-DSP.
